Hazelhurst
Hazelhurst
Wisconsin means “gathering place of waters” and this area is blessed with the largest concentration of freshwater lakes in the world. Eagle River is located within Vilas County, which has 1,318 lakes within its boundaries and neighboring Oneida County has an additional 1,129 lakes.
The World’s Largest Chain of Freshwater Lakes, the 28 lake Eagle River/Three Lakes Chain of Lakes, is accessed in Eagle River or the nearby community of Three Lakes. The lakes have a total surface area of 7,626 acres. So you can grab your water skis to show off your stuff or maybe tubing is on your bucket list. If a slower pace is your style, take out your pontoon boat, listen to summer tunes and just enjoy the day on the lake. Don’t forget to keep your eyes and ears alert for a soaring bald eagle, an osprey, or the call of a loon, who also makes its home in Eagle River.
Abundant Cross Country ski trails, and snowmobile trails surround you. And if downhill skiing is more your style-you have hills to do that within an easy drive.
